SCHOOL OF DANCE FACULTY

Red Clay Dance Company is excited to request applications for the School of Dance Faculty position. The faculty position works within our Education Department in the School of Dance to prepare its graduates to enter rigorous pre-professional dance programs or begin a career in the concert dance field. Our training fortifies technical mastery in Classical West African and African Diasporic Dances, contemporary techniques in artistry and performance, and is supplemented with ballet, modern, and other dance forms.  

This role is a unique opportunity to join a trendsetting, culturally relevant, socially transforming, elite dance organization in the Chicagoland Area. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The School of Dance Faculty will:

  • Deliver highly engaging and excellent dance training.

  • Develop contextually relevant and developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on Red Clay Dance Company’s curriculum framework.

  • Manage learning environment including attendance tracking and reporting.

  • Assist participating youth at scheduled performances.

  • Actively engage in mandatory staff meetings, orientation(s), and professional development.

  • Evaluate student learning and curriculum effectiveness in class settings, reporting findings to Education Department management.

  • Regularly communicate with students, parents and other Red Clay Dance Company staff to share artistic progress.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Committed to creating a student-centered learning environment.

  • Utilize technology and digital platforms in the classroom and as they relate to enhancing the arts educational experience for students.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BFA , BA or 5+ years of teaching experience

  • Qualified to teach multiple levels of one of the following dance techniques:

    • Classical West African

    • Dunham

    • Tap

    • Ballet

    • Hip Hop

Compensation:

$50.00 - $55.00 hourly rate – Contract
