Red Clay Dance Company Launches In The Making Membership Program
Red Clay Dance Company announces the launch of In The Making, a new membership program created to support dancers and choreographers who are actively developing their artistic practice. Officially launching on February 4, 2022, In The Making reflects Red Clay’s ongoing commitment to cultivating artists not only through performance, but through sustained access to space, infrastructure, and community.
Designed for independent artists, early-career choreographers, and movement-based creatives, In The Making offers members affordable access to rehearsal space, professional development opportunities, and connection to a growing network of artivists rooted in Chicago’s South Side. The program recognizes that artistic growth happens between performances — in studios, in experimentation, and in consistent practice — and seeks to make those moments more accessible.
In The Making operates as a monthly membership model, removing many of the traditional barriers that limit artists’ ability to rehearse and create. Members gain access to dedicated rehearsal space at Red Clay Dance Center, along with opportunities for workshops, artist conversations, and resource sharing. The program is intentionally flexible, meeting artists where they are in their creative journey.
This launch aligns directly with Red Clay Dance Company’s broader mission to awaken “glocal” Artivism — honoring local artists while connecting their work to global conversations within the African Diaspora and contemporary dance landscapes. By investing in artists at the process stage, In The Making strengthens the ecosystem that sustains performance, education, and cultural storytelling.
As In The Making begins, Red Clay Dance Company continues to expand its role as both a producing organization and a creative home — one that prioritizes access, artistic rigor, and community-centered growth.
