DANCE CLASSES AT THE CENTER

All participants are required to agree to our Class Terms & Conditions at checkout. These outline important information about refunds, transfers, cancellations, attendance expectations, and studio policies. By registering for a class, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms.

What types of dance classes do you offer at Red Clay Dance Center?

We offer a rotating schedule of classes rooted in African and African Diasporic traditions—including styles like Afro-Cuban, House, Jazz Funk, Kizomba, Samba, Afro Contemporary, Ballet, and more. Classes are taught by experienced instructors and offered at various levels.

How much does it cost to take a class?

Single classes are $18. Occasional discounts or multi-class packages may be offered. Check the class schedule page for current pricing.

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing. Some classes may suggest bare feet, socks, or specific footwear—check individual class details for guidance.

Can I get a refund if I miss my class?

All class purchases are final. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. Please review your schedule carefully before registering.

Do I need to pre‑register?

Pre-registration is required for all classes to ensure a quality experience for participants. If you would like to attend on the day of a class, please call us at 773-624-8411 to confirm availability and that the class is still scheduled.

Can I transfer my class to another day if I can’t attend?

Yes. We understand that schedules change. Transfers are available under the following guidelines:

Transfers more than 4 hours before class

  • You must call to cancel at least 4 hours before the scheduled class start time

  • You may request one transfer per month

  • Transfers must be to the same class within the same calendar month

Cancellations within 4 hours of class

  • If you cancel within 4 hours of class, the class will be considered a late cancellation

  • A one-time transfer may be approved at the discretion of Red Clay Dance Company

  • A $10 cancellation fee will apply

  • The cancellation fee must be paid at the time of cancellation for the transfer to be honored

No-shows

  • If you do not call to cancel, the class is forfeited with no transfer or credit

Do I need prior dance experience to take a class?

Not necessarily! Some classes are open to all levels, while others are recommended for dancers with intermediate or advanced training. Each class listing will note the suggested level, so you can find the right fit for your experience.

How do I register for a class?

You can register online through our class booking page. Advance registration is recommended to reserve your spot.

What forms of payment do you accept for classes?

You can pay online and in-person by credit or debit card when booking your class. We do not accept cash payments at the door unless otherwise stated.

Do you offer class packages or discounts?

From time to time we offer multi-class packages or promo codes. Follow us on social media or join our email list to stay informed about special offers.

STUDIO RENTALS

Can I rent studio space at Red Clay Dance Center?

Yes! Our studios are available for rehearsals, workshops, auditions, and more. We offer affordable rates for individual artists, nonprofits, and commercial clients.

How much does it cost to rent studio space?

Rental rates vary based on studio size and intended use. Rehearsal rates start as low as $15/hour. Full facility rentals start at $200/hour with a minimum time block. Contact our team directly for full pricing details.

How do I book a studio rental?

Individuals can book our studios based on availability, completely online for Studio Rentals.

Organizations who wish to utilize our space must fill out the rental inquiry form, and a team member will follow up with availability, pricing, and next steps.

Can I host my own event at Red Clay Dance Center?

Where is Red Clay Dance Center located?

We’re located at 808 E. 63rd Street, Chicago, IL, in the heart of the Woodlawn neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

Street parking is available near the Center. Please allow time to find parking before your class or event. You may also consider public transit or ride-share services for convenience.
