MARKETING COORDINATOR

Red Clay Dance Company seeks a highly organized, collaborative, and mission-driven Program Manager to help bring our programs to life. As Chicago's premier Afro-contemporary dance company, Red Clay Dance Company creates, performs, and teaches dances of the African Diaspora while advancing our mission to awaken Artivism through artistic excellence, education, and community engagement. As we enter our 18th season, we are investing in our organizational capacity to support the next phase of our growth. About the Role

The Marketing Coordinator supports the execution of Red Clay Dance Company’s marketing and communications strategy, with primary responsibility for the organization’s day-to-day social media workflow. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position researches, creates, publishes, and evaluates content that increases brand awareness, strengthens audience engagement, and connects people with Red Clay Dance Company’s programs and services. The position also supports digital advertising, email marketing, third-party listings, and digital asset management. 

What You'll Do

Research and Planning 

  • Review organizational priorities, program information, campaign goals, and the marketing calendar to identify upcoming content needs and translate approved ideas into actionable plans that define the intended message, format, platform, required assets, and production timeline. 

  • Research audience interests, social media conversations, platform trends, and relevant cultural moments to identify opportunities for Red Clay Dance Company. 

  • Develop and present content ideas that align with campaign objectives, target audiences, brand standards, and platform best practices. 

Content Production

  • Capture high-quality photos, video, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content during classes, rehearsals, performances, programs, and organizational events. 

  • Transform approved content plans and raw materials into platform-ready assets, including short-form videos, graphics, carousels, photos, captions, and promotional copy tailored to each platform while maintaining Red Clay Dance Company’s brand voice and visual standards. 

  • Produce multiple creative variations when needed to support organic social media campaigns, digital advertising, and ongoing content testing. 

Publishing and Community Engagement 

  • Prepare completed content for review, incorporate feedback, and confirm accuracy, brand alignment, accessibility, credits, links, and platform specifications before publishing. 

  • Schedule and publish approved content across Red Clay Dance Company’s social media platforms according to the marketing calendar and campaign timelines. 

  • Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions, and tagged content; respond to routine audience interactions using approved messaging and elevate sensitive or complex inquiries to the Director of Marketing & Communications. 

  • Provide timely social media coverage during designated classes, rehearsals, performances, programs, and organizational events. 

Performance Analysis and Marketing Support

  • Monitor social media performance and relevant key performance indicators, including reach, engagement, audience growth, traffic, and conversions; identify patterns and recommend adjustments to future content, formats, messaging, and publishing practices. 

  • Support the creation, launch, and monitoring of digital advertising campaigns under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications. 

  • Support email marketing production and maintain accurate third-party event and program listings. 

  • Organize and maintain the company’s digital asset library so approved photos, videos, graphics, and campaign materials are accurately labeled and easily accessible.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of professional experience managing social media and producing content for an organization, business, or established brand. 

  • Demonstrated ability to capture and edit photos and video and create platform-ready graphics, short-form videos, captions, and promotional copy. 

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and social media platforms. 

  • Ability to develop content ideas from campaign goals, audience insights, organizational priorities, and platform trends. 

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, follow review and approval processes, and maintain accuracy in a fast-moving environment. 

  • Ability to interpret basic social media performance data and apply findings to future content.

  • Proficiency with social media management, graphic design, and video-editing tools, such as Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or comparable platforms. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, receive feedback, and exercise sound judgment when representing the organization online.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
Employment Status: Part-time, 29 hours per week

Schedule

Monday–Wednesday: 2:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
Thursday: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

The schedule may also include designated rehearsals, performances, programs, and organizational events.
