Journey Back: Movement, Memory & Healing

Red Clay Dance Company travels to Sheboygan for a special repertory evening at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex. The program features Vershawn Sanders‑Ward’s Rest.Rise.Move.Nourish.Heal, a site‑responsive ritual created in collaboration with composer avery r. young and filmmaker Jovan Landry that uncovers ancestral traditions and practices to reclaim our relationship to the land. Sharing the bill is Field: New Ground by legendary choreographer Bebe Miller, a work that reimagines her 30‑year‑old piece Field by interweaving memory with fresh movement and giving space for each dancer’s individuality. Together, these works highlight the power of healing, memory, and collaboration within the Afro‑contemporary dance lineage.
